Bulbs, tubers, and corms and underground storage vessels that all grow plants. Bulbs (think daffodils and tulips) have a central stem surrounded by layers like an onion, and roots grow from a plate on the bottom. Tubers (dahlias and begonias) are chunky underground stems full of energy—plant one and it sprouts from ‘eyes.’ Corms (crocuses and gladioli), look like bulbs but are solid inside, kind of like a compact energy pack. The plants grown from all three are great for seasonal colour and often bloom year after year. Pop them in the ground, wait a bit, and suddenly—life, colour, and flowers everywhere.
