Layered Textures & Calming Greens

A shady corner doesn’t have to be dull—plenty of beautiful plants love the shade and actually thrive in it. Think lush, layered textures and deep, calming greens. Ferns, hostas, and heucheras are classics, bringing bold leaves and subtle colour. Add in foxgloves or astrantias for height and soft blooms. Even some types of hydrangeas and hellebores do brilliantly in low light. Shade-loving plants often have a woodland vibe, creating peaceful, cool spots perfect for relaxing. So don’t fight the shade—embrace it. With the right plants, that gloomy corner can become one of the most magical parts of your garden.
