Autumn in the garden is a quiet kind of beautiful. During September, October and November, everything starts to wind down, but not without a show—leaves turn rich shades of red, gold, and orange, and late flowers like asters and sedums keep the colour going. There’s a calm, cosy feeling in the air. It’s also a great time for a couple of important jobs: planting spring bulbs so you’ve got colour early next year, and tidying up perennials or collecting fallen leaves for compost. Autumn reminds us that rest is part of the rhythm, and there’s beauty in the slowing down.
